This page explains what cookies are, how JSM Law uses them on this website, and what options you have to manage them. We keep things plain — no confusing technical language where plain English works just as well.

1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device — computer, phone, or tablet — when you visit. They help the site remember things about your visit, such as whether you've already accepted the cookie notice or what language you prefer.
Cookies do not run programs or carry viruses. They are simply a way for the website to recognise your browser the next time you come back, so your experience can be more consistent.
Some cookies are placed by the website you're visiting (first-party cookies). Others are set by external services that appear on the page (third-party cookies).
2. Cookies We Use
Essential Cookies
These cookies are required for the website to function. Without them, certain features — such as the cookie consent mechanism or secure form submission — would not work.
Examples: Cookie consent status, basic session security
Always Active
Analytics Cookies
These help us understand how visitors use the site — which pages are viewed most, where visitors come from, and how long they spend on the site. This helps us improve the content and structure of our pages.
Examples: Google Analytics (page views, session length, referral source)
Duration: Up to 2 years (persistent)
Marketing Cookies
These cookies are used to deliver relevant advertising and track the effectiveness of any campaigns we run. They may be set by third-party advertising networks.
Examples: Google Ads conversion tracking, Meta Pixel
Duration: Up to 90 days (persistent)
Preference Cookies
These remember choices you make to personalise your experience, such as your preferred language or region setting, so you don't have to set them again on your next visit.
Examples: Language preference, display settings
Duration: Up to 1 year (persistent)
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some features of our website may involve services provided by third parties who may set their own cookies. These include:
- Google Analytics — website usage statistics
- Google Ads — conversion tracking for advertising campaigns
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel — campaign performance measurement
- Microsoft Bing — advertising measurement
Each third-party provider has its own privacy and cookie policy. We encourage you to review those policies independently. We have no direct control over third-party cookies.
4. Cookie Duration
Session Cookies
Temporary cookies that are deleted automatically when you close your browser. They hold no information on your device between visits.
Persistent Cookies
These remain on your device for a set period (from a few days to two years) or until you delete them manually. They allow us to recognise you on future visits.
5. Your Cookie Preferences
Use the controls below to set your preferences. Essential cookies are always active. Changes are saved to your browser immediately.
